Q: Does Decryptum recover a file's password?
A: No. Decryptum does not recover the password. It removes security from files
protected with file-open password as if there was no password set.
Q: How can I recover the original password for my file?
A: Please use Word Key or Excel Key to recover the original File-Open password. These products can also reset File-Modify and Document Protection passwords.
Q: Is it safe to upload files?
A: During upload, Decryptum automatically encrypts files using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with a 128-bits encryption key. Once uploaded files are stored on secured servers.
Q: Can I pay by check, PO or wire transfer?
A: We strongly recommend using the online credit card payment process because in this case
you will receive an e-mail order confirmation message with PIN number within a few minutes of
placing an order. If you do not need your password protected files to be unlocked instantly, you can choose
other payment methods. The following payment methods are available in addition to "Online - Credit-card" :
"Fax - Fax Credit-card", "Phone - Phone Credit-card", "Purchase Order - Fax request",
"Check/Money Order - Mail request", and "Wire Transfer - Fax request".
Q: How long should I wait for my order to be processed?
A: Online credit-card orders are processed immediately. Some credit-card orders require manual verification, which may take up to 4 hours. Phone, fax, mail/check and corporate purchase order options are processed the next business day upon receipt.
Q: What is a Decryptum credit?
A: A numeric value that represents the maximum number of files PIN holder can decrypt.
Q: What is a PIN number?
A: A sequence of numbers and letters, used as a unique identifier of Decryptum order.
After placing an order at Decryptum.com you will receive an e-mail with your PIN number.
PIN numbers can initially contain 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 Decryptum credits. To purchase
Decryptum credits please refer to Pricing Page.
Usually Decryptum PIN looks like this: ABCDE-123AC-F7ZLG-QQ4F7-ZLGQ82
Q: What is a JOB ID number?
A: A unique 19 digit number is assigned each time you start the recovery process.
Job ID helps to identify and track the recovery case. Please keep this number confidential because this is the only authentication token required to download decrypted file from the server.
Sample Job ID: 12345-71236-96797-19964
Q: Can someone guess my JOB ID and download my file?
A: It is impossible to guess the 19 digit number in a reasonable amount of time. In addition, Decryptum uses verification codes to prevent unauthorized automated scripts and brute force attempts.
Q: Can I use decryptum.com securely on a public computer?
A: Yes. No private information is cached on your local PC. You can safely access Decryptum from any computer.
Q: Are files created with MS Office versions prior to Office 97 supported?

Q: Why can't I still modify my file after decryption?
A: To modify your file you need to reset a File-Modify, Workbook/sheet or Document Protection password. Such passwords can be instantly reset by Word Key or Excel Key.
Q: Does Decryptum work with workbook/sheet protection, vba passwords?
A: No. Decryptum opens files protected with file-open password only. Use Office Key to recover workbook/sheet protection or vba passwords.
